Research Interests

Genomics of microorganisms of importance in food. Prevalence of pathogens in food of animal origin with emphasis on “livestock” clones. Phenotypic and genotypic analysis of bacterial virulence and resistance. Use of next-generation sequencing, Sanger sequencing, bioinformatics and pulsed-field electrophoresis, for characterization of pathogenic food microorganisms. Gene expression of virulence factors in bacteria.
