 HISTORY

The Post Graduate Program in Food Science (PPGCA) was created in 1969, by the Department of Food Science (DCA) and the Faculty of Food Engineering (FEA), of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). The PPGCA is an institution that has been appointed by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) as a center of excellence since July 1970.


The PPGCA had received the highest rating from the Ministry of Education until 1995. After, with the implementation of the triennial evaluation system, the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) has consistently awarded the PPGCA a Grade 7; the highest possible rating. Therefore, the PPGCA is amongst the best post graduate programs in Brazil.

Since the commencement of the Master's degree in 1969, and the Doctoral degree in 1975, the PPGCA has contributed significantly to the scientific, technological and social advancement of Latin America.
